2/3 cup shortening
1/2 cup butter
3 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
3/2 tsp vanilla extract

Add baking soda and salt, then add flour, 1 cup at a time, beating with a spoon in between each cup. When all flour is added, add baking chips and mix with a spoon. Use ungreased or Pam w/Flour spray on baking sheets, and put 1 inch diameter balls of dough on sheets, aprox. 1-1.5 inches apart.
